Fall 2006 » about the qcda

About the Queen City Darting Organization (QCDA)

The QCDA is based in Charlotte, NC. However, many neighboring cities also have bars that participate in competition.

The QCDA has 2 seasons, a fall and a spring, in which it usually has about 150-180 people playing in six divisions. Division one is the highest division and six is the lowest. Teams are made up of four individuals. They are placed into the divisions by their team rating (combined individual ratings). Basically, all the team rating's are totaled and the top six or eight are in division 1, the next six or eight are in division 2, and so on. The season usually last 15 weeks. Divisions with six teams play each other three times, and divisions with eight teams play each other two times. Sometimes a division has five or seven teams, in which case an imaginary team is created to make it six or eight teams and when you play that team your have a bye (don't play).

Each Tuesday night, two teams play one another in the following format. First, player plays singles games against an opposing player in x01. Next, is singles cricket. The goal is to win 2 games.

Then each team creates two doubles teams. They first play three games of 601, then teams are recreated and they play three games of cricket. The scoring is the same as above, except the points are doubled. Ties are possible for the night.

At the end of the season, all the first place teams from each division play in the City Cup. It is a round robin setting in which you play each team three times in team x01, with a point for each win. The team with the most points, wins the City Cup for that season. To make it fair, division 1 plays 1001, division 2 plays 941, division 3 plays 881, division 4 plays 821, division 5 plays 761 an division 6 plays 701.

Each first place team player gets 50 points added to their rating at the end of the season to help them move up a division the next season, or if you're unlucky(depending how you look at it) two divisions.
